FICTION HOUSE

Fiction House was a pioneering American comic book publisher active from the late 1930s to the early 1950s. Known for its diverse range of genres, Fiction House published adventure, science fiction, jungle, crime, and romance comics. It made a significant mark with its strong, bold female protagonists like Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, one of the earliest female superheroes. Their titles, such as Planet Comics and Jungle Comics, were notable for dynamic art and action-packed stories, often pushing the boundaries of storytelling for the era. Fiction House also nurtured many talented artists and writers, including Matt Baker, one of the first prominent African American comic book artists. Although it ceased operations in the 1950s, Fiction House remains a key part of comic book history, known for its contributions to the Golden Age of Comics.
